Foreign Language Requirements for the MA in British and American Literature

Candidates for the MA degree in British and American Literature are expected to demonstrate reading knowledge of either French, German, Spanish, or Latin, generally through translation of one or more written passages through a departmental examination. In special cases, another language may be substituted, with permission of the graduate advisor. The exam is offered once per semester.
